Big + Small: Wrapped Washer Necklaces for Design Mom
Today, I’m a contributor over at Designmom and confess that I’ve been checking all day to see if these were ready to share with you. I’m so happy that the time has come. Sometimes simplicity speaks the strongest, don’t you agree?
– I made the Big version for Grown ups: 3 wrapped washers that are bound for me — one for each of my 3 kids.
– My daughter, Francesca, made the Small Version for kids: She wrapped 10 washers in rainbow colored embroidery thread, since she’s 10 years old. We hope you have as much fun making and wearing these as we do!
For you Smalls, create a necklace with a wrapped washer, one for each year of your age, in whatever colors you like, and string them on a chain.
These adorable necklaces can be made by absolutely anyone. You choose the color and the thread you’d like to use. So far, we’ve made these in waxed linen, ordinary embroidery thread and silk thread. I love all of them. I’d love to hear if you make them and what you choose, too. There are infinite possibilities. In fact, the boys got in on the wrapping washers, too. They decided to make Key Chains, with one wrapped washer for each year of their age, too.
This side-by-side project is so simple, but at the same time, creates such a beautiful and meaningful piece for both Bigs and Smalls.
If you’re looking for a Mother’s Day Present, these are perfect or just a wonderful project to create together. Wishing you a wonderful week and Happy Making! Click here to continue to the full article and Tutorial at Designmom
