about
Hi, I’m Gina Vide (pronounced Vee-dah. It's the Swedish word for 'willow'), the artist behind Willowday—a brand inspired by nature and rooted in petal-based artwork.
Welcome to Gina Vide Studio & willowday where you will soon find much new work & shop.
I am an artist, illustrator, designer, writer, and teacher living in Sweden with my American-French-Swedish family, whose diverse backgrounds take us to many inspiring places and fuel my creativity.
I work both classically and with foraged botanicals picked between the city and the sea in Sweden, creating art one petal at a time.
Since my earliest memories—coloring at the kitchen table with a big, beautiful box of crayons with an eraser on the back, drawing on a piece of birch bark, dancing beneath towering cosmos flowers in our garden, and collecting their petals—I’ve been captivated by the magic of art and nature.
Travel has always transported me. Growing up, I’d imagine new places for my dolls amongst the trees, and I first journeyed to France in my imagination when I saw the illustrations and heard the lines at the library story hour:
“In an old house in Paris that was covered with vines
Lived twelve little girls in two straight lines.” —from the picture book, Madeline.
(It could even be argued that I married Pepito… but that’s a story for another day.)
To my joy, our family stretches through Provençal landscapes, firefly-filled Midwestern summer nights, and daily life at the gateway to the Stockholm archipelago.

Experience After studying in a BFA program, I’ve continuously worked internationally as a creative professional: you can find some of my work at Disney, PopSugar, Huffington Post, Bolig Magazine and Botanical Anthology, and I’ve collaborated with clients like Sony, Universal Music, Östasiatiska Museum, TREK Bicycles, and Karolinska Institute. I also illustrated the children’s book Saga om Confidencen, commissioned by the Swedish Royal Family.
I’ve recently been an artist-in-residence in Barcelonnette, France, at the historic Villa Puebla, and created a 250-square-meter exhibit at Scandinavia’s largest garden show, Trädgårdsmässan.
Award-Winning Blog I originally founded Willowday, an award-winning blog, with my 3 children to share and spark everyday creativity. What began as a family project has grown into an archive of over 800 projects crafted from our home between the city and sea in Sweden and led to botanical art—a tribute to the nature walks with my children that inspired me to work with this medium. You can explore this archive in my Studio Journal, along with new creations. and find my botanical work here.
When at play… When not in the studio, I spend time with my French-American-Swedish family—my husband, three children, and two dogs. I love connecting with people, traveling, enjoying good food, staying active, and discovering beauty in the details of everyday life.
Warm wishes,
Gina Vide
