“JULGRANSPLUNDERING” CHRISTMAS HOLIDAY IN SWEDEN

“JULGRANSPLUNDERING” CHRISTMAS HOLIDAY IN SWEDEN
“Julgransplundering”
Have you heard of this before?  I hadn’t before moving to Sweden. Here, Christmas trees are traditionally put up close to the 25th and are kept up well into January. January 13 is the official date to take them down. This exact date falls 20 days after Christmas and people throw “Taking down the Christmas Tree parties.” Many schools, churches and offices invite children in to dance around their Christmas trees, sing Christmas songs, eat the remaining candy and, in many cases, meet Santa one last time on this day! In our house, we’llput our decorations away and the kids will all get a turn “throwing the Christmas tree out of the window!”  Good Bye, Christmas!
