Swedish Easter Decoration (Påskris in Swedish)

I was so surprised the first time I saw these shockingly colorful Easter bouquets, calledpåskris. Budding branches, usually birch, with brightly colored feathers comprise a bouquet that is basically the Swedish, Easter version, of the Christmas tree. Swedish Easter traditionsare completely different than any I had heard of before. Over this Easter weekend, according to Swedish folklore, witches fly back to a place called Blåkulla and these bouquets symbolize the witches brooms! You can buy colorful loose feathers at markets and craft stores. I’ve even seen people decorate trees on their lawn in this style. If you would like to do this at home, this is what you need:

SUPPLIES:

Thin, tree branches (Traditionally birch is used but, I love blooms such as cherry blossom or pussy willow, too)
Wire
Colorful Feathers
Hollow Easter Eggs

HOW-TO: 
If you’d like a Swedish Easter touch this year in your home, this is what you need to do for these bouquets: Simply attach the feathers to the branches with the wire. Once you have enough branches decorated, fill your vase with these. Enjoy this splash of color!
